I hear that I can take an old PC, and use it as a home server. It supposedly would have some benefits, but I just don't know what they are. I could also go buy the parts and build one, so my question is, why would I want one, and what does it need?If you have multiple computers, you can host files on a single computer (the home server) and share them out to the other PC's. This way you can create or edit a file on one PC, and access it on all. Also, there aren't ton's of duplicates!host files or web site
you don't need much just a ok computer, a network card, and broadband connection
and past that it depends on what you are doing with the serverabout home server can be read in
http://wikipediawiki.org/computers-inter...I would say that you don't want one and it doesn't need anything if it takes more time away from spending with your loved ones. You can also run a shared printer on the server, run a char server or an IM server, an email server - anything that a few computers would benefit by being able to share. Of course there are VERY few home networks that have servers running on them.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
