Samhain is when the veil between the 2 planes is thinnest. What would be the best way to contact my dad who crossed over Dec. '06?

Thank you.In no way am I being rude! But I don't know much about this stuff and it sounds interesting! I love learning about Pagan rituals! Any good sites out there ?Samhain is a time for celebrating and remembering lost loved ones though rather than trying directly contacting which can be very risky;I personally tend to light a candle and say a blessing for them instead but obviously evreyone is different and has their own way. Instead of calling him maybe let him come to you.he may make his presence known to you if the time is right.The best thing to do is issue an invitation. Whether or not you get any contact would be up to the others. You never want to try to coerce anything.
Many do a special dinner for the evening. Try cooking a few of your Dad's favorite dishes and invite his participation with the blessing. A picture on a mantel overlooking the table can be helpful. Make a plate for him and make sure to leave it outside afterwards.
I am sorry for your loss. May you achieve some peace and acceptance of the transition.I like fun spiritual ideas, like this, but seriously... why would someone think there are 2 planes? Or that we have them so well understood that we can pick an annual day of the year that they are in such a state? Where is the foundation for this kind of belief?
Sorry you lost your dad.Samhain isn't necessarily about making contact, but honoring a loved one that has passed. No guarantee that contact will be made.
Personally, I have the most contact with loved ones that have passed in my dreams. And you can tell it's a visit because with a dream, you will forget it within a week. But a visit, even years later you can recall every detail.
So I would focus on honoring your dad, and then before going to bed open yourself up to a visit, ask your dad to please communicate with you in a dream, maybe have a crystal or amethyst on your night stand, and be patient. It can take time, but the good news is a visit through dreams can happen year around.
You could try forms of divination, tarot cards and runes are popular forms and set can be brought from metaphysical stores. You could also try a silent supper.
