First tattoo placement?

  • I want to get two tattoos dedicated to my fiance. I'm getting one this year on my birthday - in November. This will be my first tattoo. I'll admit I'm nervous. I'm either getting his initials on the back of my neck or angel wings on my shoulder blades. Which would be best for a first tattoo? How much will either hurt? Is there another place I can get his initials tattooed while still being able to be professional at work?


  • You are breaking a tattoo rule, you are getting someones name tattooed on you???

    I would go for the wings, and if you do get the initials then get them on your hip or neck


  • wrt work, always get it somewhere you can cover up if need be.
    i have one big tattoo, stretching from hip to hip. i've had it about 13 years now, and only those i want to see it have seen it. it's also made it through a pregnancy without changing shape... all important considerations

    maybe instead of his initials go for something symbolic???


  • I know ya not going to like this but if you get his initials get them no bigger than 1 inch in size then if ,heaven forbid, you fall out an get devorced it wont be too dificult for your artist to cover. I know its not a good thing to be think ahead on these things but a tatt is for life.

    Oh your hip is good for initials its hidable and showable when it suits you. On your ankle is also a good place for small tatts it can be covered with trousers and stockings an wont draw too much attention to it while at work.

    The angel wings would be cool but get a good artist to do it for ya i have seen some really rubbish wings just because the artist wasnt up to their job. The price of a tattoo is no indication of the quality of their work so ask to see some photos of stuff they have done before.


  • if you get some thing for someone make it something neutral
    a butterfly, wings, flower etc....

    NOT A NAME OR INITIALS

    names of children, siblings or self are the only ones you can trust to always be around

    on your 5th or 10th anniversary if you want to get them done that would be one thing. fiance means not even married yet. means you can break up and then be stuck with him forever or till you remove it or cover it up


    TRUST ME my fiance has his ex wifes name on his chest. it's getting covered up but imagine being the new person in their life having to see that cr@p every day!!!
    they were married less than a year when they decided to tattoo each others names on themselves. she got his covered a week after they split.



    and YES tattoos hurt. any where you get tattooed you will feel pain in some way shape or form.
