Does Nalbandian have a good chance to defend his title in Paris?

  • Well I don't think so, his form has betrayed him this year, though we consider him to be an outstanding player in the indoor season, his results this year have been mixed.

Plus just check his draw Keifer, Del Potro, Murray, Nadal and then Federer or Djojkovic. Thats like " The Draw from Hell"

He starts against Kiefer ok that may not be too tough, but then he will have to face in form Argentine Del Potro in the round of 16, who will be motivated to win cause he needs points to ensure a berth at the Tennis matsers cup.

If he gets by Del Potro, he will face the In form Andy Murray in the quarter Finals, who has clearly been the stand out player in the indoor swing, and i will be really surprised if Nalbandian can beat him .

So just to get to the Sf he has to beat 2 really tough and in in form players.

if he does that a show down with Nadal looms in the SF and the player who comes through the bottom section possibly Federer/ Djokovic in the Final.

Coming through all this is just too big an ask, even if he is able to put his game together he will have a hard time, and especially in Nalby's current form its highly unlikely.

So my conclusion is that Nalbandian will not be able to defend his crown at Paris. He has to over come 4 major obstacles and i don't think he is capable of winning 4 back 2 back matches against players of this caliber. I don't think he even believes himself he can do it.

KM Yes he did win Stockholm in a relatively weakened field and was also a finalist in Basel, but he lost to Del Potro at Madrid, and struggled at times in most of his matches at Basel. He looked completely helpless against Fed the other day.

If u saw him play at these events u may l agree with me that his results have been mixed, and he is not in the kind of form he was last year, last year his back hand down the line was killing opponents but this year its not as big a weapon.

  • no

  • i don't think so, specially with everybody playing in paris.-
i don't want him to, but i think murray will win it, he's got a great mommentum going.-

  • I wouldn't think so... Nalbandian just doesn't look like himself this year. However, he is coming off of a big win and could ride the momentum wave. Anything can happen ;)

  • Th eanswer to this is no. It will either be Rogi or Andy Murray. Everything seems to be clicking for Andy Murray lately, but Rogi's win in Basel should put some more confidence in him. Nalby's best chance was in Basel, but he couldn't do anything with Rogi firing on all ends. The winner in Paris will be between Rogi and AM. Go Rogi!
