Can I continue to dance on pointe if my toenails fall off?

  • I just got a part as a mouse in the Nutcracker... I don't want to give that up! Do I have to stay off pointe while my toenails grow back??

  • of course!!

    this sounds weird but,

what you do is keep your toenails so short that when they start to grow back you clip them till they are not there. trust me this is what you are supposed to do. Good luck!!

  • Your toenails fell off? O_O

  • no.

there are plenty of girls at my studio who have lost toenails, stayed on pointe, and they have been fine. though i'm pretty sure that ballet class wasnt much fun without a toenail

i'm sure it doesnt help the growing back process,
but if you dont mind having ugly feet for a little longer,
    keep the part!

  • i would assume it would be very similar as a situation in which you cut your toenails too short. It will be painful....but you can still do it.

  • I lost a toenail once, and I broke other toes and danced fine. Just take a little caution in other things that you do and take care of your feet. Get a pedicure once in a while and make sure to get those toes checked at a doctor's office.

    Break a leg!
