Is it illegal to accept gifts(ie. paid vacation for two) from a business selling you something?

  • Illegal? Only if you are a government entity.

    But, your company may have rules against accepting gifts from vendors or potential vendors.

    I have worked for companies that didn't care, and companies that forbade gifts or other compensation.

    Refer to your corporate regulations.


  • Most of the companies today frown on the practice of suppliers offering gifts to their employees. It is not illegal but it is considered to be unethical. But the Senators don't seem to think so especially Dodd from CT. His" vig" was reduced mortgage interest rates which he didn't realize were favorable even though he chaired the Committee which controlled such matters.
