I have a Lemond Poprad with Shimano 105 9 speed. I was thinking of converting to a 10 speed setup. What parts do I need other than new shifters, chain and cassette?i think you should go back to 7 speed
or even 6

There is very little to be gained by converting from 9 to 10 speeds. The cost would far outweigh the benefit. What do you get for the hundreds of dollars that you would spend? Spending the same amount of money on a better set of wheels would get you far more bang for the buck.
HTHWhy do you want 10 speed? It won't make you any faster and the gear ratios available are the same- all you are adding is a gear somewhere in the middle and sloppier shifting.
You just need to make sure that the rear derailleur is 10 speed compatible. Current models are, but older models may not be.
Other than that you are good to go.Converting a 9 speed to a 10 speed is pretty much a waste of money, there is no real advantage for the amount of money you have to spend.they actually sell upgrade kits that have shifters, derailers, chain and cogs. excel sports has them. an ultegra kit is 465.00.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
